<poem>
1 c. shortening or margarine       1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sugar                        &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Light molasses              &nbsp; &nbsp; 1/2 c. fruit juice (orange or grape)
3 eggs                              &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;2 c. raisins
2 c. flour                          &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. baking soda               &nbsp; &nbsp; 1 c. chopped fruit mix (candied)
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream shortening; add sugar and molasses and stir well. Add eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with fruit juice. Add fruit and nuts last. Spread thinly on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 deg. for about 35 minutes. Cut into squares or bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
