<poem>
1 c. shortening or margarine       3 c. sifted flour
1-1/2 c. sugar                      &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs                              &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. light molasses              &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1 c. sweetened shredded coconut 
                                                1 c. chopped <u>pecans</u>

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and molasses and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add. Stir in coconut and pecans. Shape into balls the size of <u>small</u> walnuts. Line cookie sheet with foil and grease lightly. 

Bake about 2" apart at 375 deg. for 9-10 minutes, until lightly browned. Do not overbake.
