1-1/2 tbsp. milk 1-1/2 tbsp. lemon juice | |||
1 tbsp. margarine 1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind | |||
1 c. sifted powdered sugar | |||
Combine all ingredients and spread thinly on bars before cutting. |

1-1/4 c. sifted cake flour 2 c. finely cut dates (10 oz.)
1-1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. broken walnuts
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. margarine
1 tbsp. hot water
Cream sugar and eggs; add margarine and hot water. Add dates and nuts. Stir in dry ingredients sifted together. Mix well. Spread in greased 9x13" baking pan.
Bake at 325 deg. for 30-35 minutes. Cool. Spread with lemon glaze. (See below) Cut into bars.*
Makes about 4 dozen.
