1-3/4 c. butter 3-3/4 c. sifted flour
2 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder
8 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. mace (or 1/2 tsp. each
nutmeg and cinnamon)
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and cream well. Sift dry ingredients into mixture. Beat well. Line 2 loaf pans with parchment paper; pour mixture into pans and bake for 1-1/2 hours at 325 deg.
Recipe from Grandpa Allen's aunt. We called her Grandma Bird (her last name) when we were kids.
