Lillian's Plain Sponge Cake

4 eggs, separated                       1/4 tsp. salt
1-1/2 c. sugar                            1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. boiling water                     1 tsp. flavoring (vanilla)
1-1/2 c. sifted cake flour

Beat egg yolks until thick and very light - about 10 minutes. Add sugar and beat well. Add water and mix well. Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Add flavoring and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites, blending well.
Bake in greased tube pan about 1 hour at 275 deg.
